How to register a trademark in Costa Rica.
The first step to register a trademark is to review is anybody has recorded the same mark or brand under the same category. In case the answer is no, the second step is to file a writting to the Public Registry requesting the registration, with the explanation of the categories where it has to be recorded, the complete indication of the name, and a copy of the logo is applicable.
The Public Registry will then conduct the procedure to do the registration, and will publish a notification to third parties asking to oppose to the registration in case they beleive they have a better right. In case somebody oppose, it will have to be reviewed the arguments of the opposition and to answer accordingly. Once this stage ends, the Public Registry will continue the procedure to decide if the registration is valid or not.
